What can you do?
One of Iris' favorite, out of the blue, sayings while we are out shopping in a quiet store is...."Mommy tooted!!!" Then, she looks around for reaction. Of course, people are trying not to laugh as if I actually did, in fact, toot. She thinks she is soo funny.
2 year update...
Iris' 2 year update: She is 37 inches tall and 30 lbs in weight. She is in the 99th percentile for height and 50th percentile for weight. If she keeps this up she will be 5'10" or 6'2" as the equations are not that accurate. The Dr. called her Gargantuan. LOL!!!
Iris is talking ALL the time...
Today I was changing Iris to leave Gigi's after a LOOOONG day of swimming when she stuck her finger in her ear and said, "Mommy (with a very serious look), I have pool in my ear."

The Jailbird broke free!!!!!!!!!!
Ok...so it's official, at 20 months of age, Iris can break out of her crib. I put her to bed and all was good. I went in later to check on her and her legs were hanging out of the crib rails. Thus, I put them back in. At that point, she was furious. I told her it was nigh, nigh time and walked out. I arrived downstairs to check the monitor when I saw one leg up on the rail. This is not uncommon. Sooo.... I walked back upstairs at normal speed to find Iris walking down the hall binky in mouth and dragging her blankie!!! She was VERY happy with herself. It is an image that I will never forget. I was both scared for her and suprised at her ability. I was checking her bones to make sure nothing was broken when she shoved my hand away while saying, "play, play." She left me in the dust and ran to the rec room to get on her pony. Unbelivable!

Iris had a blast staying up way past her bedtime. She rearranged a bowl full of hershey kisses for over an hour and she loved the caroling!

18 month check up
Iris is 26 lbs 9 oz and in the 97th percentile for height. She is still going strong in the height department. She might be taller than both of us. I guess we'll find out when she turns two. Anybody have the equation for that? It is a mystery how that figure that stuff out.
Anywho, Iris is talking all the time. She repeats EVERYTHING you say. She tries to speak in full sentences and she will repeat that sentence the same way over and over hoping you might understand. She loves to read grown up books and Veranda Magazine. She has made a best friend at school. Her name is Lilly. Iris and Lilly were in the same class until it got too big and they were split up. Apparently, Iris asks for Lilly all the time so they let Iris go next door to play. :) Today Iris and Lilly were leaving early so they got to eat lunch together. Also, Iris has become very interested in the potty. She asks to go potty all the time, but she still hasn't quite figured it out. However, she loves to flush so we have to keep the bathroom door shut. Oh, she is an escape artist now. She is able to climb out of her pack-n-play and open most doors. I was getting ready one morning in our suite in the Dominican when she escaped. I heard, "hola, chiquita." It was our favorite cleaning lady, Deonesia, talking to Iris. Iris was in the hallway of the hotel at this time making a break for it. I had to run from the bedroom, through the living room, and out into the hallway in my underwear, no less, and grab her. Not to mention, I didn't have my contacts in so I could barely see. That was probably a good thing b/c I'm not sure I could have looked anyone in the eye that saw me in my underwear! So, needless to say, we must keep all doors locked now.
Well, I have a ton of videos and pictures to post since Christmas. It has been so hectic and I fell way behind in my blogging. Pictures and videos coming soon!
